NPA is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. NPA maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Psychologist
You are required to provide proof:
1. 30 hours of continuing education credits

  • 6 hours of scientific and professional Ethics and standards, and common areas of professional misconduct. Ethics course must be APA or Board approved and may be taken through homestudy
  • 2 hours of evidence-based suicide prevention and awareness
  • 6 hours of continuing education relating to cultural competency and diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
    Courses in cultural competency and diversity, equity, and inclusion must address persons of different cultural backgrounds, including, but not limited to, the following categories: 
    • Persons from various gender, racial and ethnic backgrounds;
    • Persons from various religious backgrounds;
    • Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning persons;
    • Children and senior citizens;
    • Veterans;
    • Persons with a mental illness;
    • Persons with an intellectual disability, developmental disability or physical disability; and
    • Persons who are part of any other population that the holder of a license may need to better understand, as determined by the Board.

Approved courses can be found in NAC 641.136 

No more than 15 home study credits will be counted. For this renewal: NAC 641.007 “Home study course” means a course of instruction designed for home study in which:
1. Instruction is provided to the participant on-demand at a location at which the instructor is not physically present; and
2. There is no ability for the participant to communicate with the instructor in real-time during the course of instruction.
