Generalist Postdoctoral Scholar - Counseling Services - University of Nevada, Reno

The University of Nevada, Reno Counseling Services is recruiting for two full-time, 12-month Generalist Postdoctoral Fellows. This Postdoctoral Fellowship is for a generalist college counseling center clinician; and, we currently have the following optional areas of emphasis available for applicants with experience and interest: multicultural counseling and consulting, trauma therapy, and group therapy (see summary of activities for each in full listing). Other areas of focus may also be considered, dependent on candidate interest and available supervision. Under supervision, the Postdoctoral Fellow will provide a full range of psychological services, including individual and group therapy, same day sessions, crisis intervention, and outreach and consultation services to university students. There is also the option to conduct psychological assessment. This position will receive a comprehensive training experience in University Counseling Services. The majority of this work is accomplished via interpersonal relationships with students, but may also be extended to faculty, campus organizations, and other professional members of the community. Post-docs at UNR CS receive a minimum of 90 minutes of individual supervision per week, participate in post-doc group/cohort supervision, and have access to didactic training seminars.

Post-Doctoral Fellow / Psychological Assistant

Who We Are: We are a diverse private practice setting with an opening for a postdoctoral fellow/ psychological assistant position, to join our team. At our practice, psychological testing and therapy services are provided for a diverse range of clients. The provider will be primarily conducting assessments for forensics, disability, military, at-risk youth, immigration, and Medicaid members. Our clients range from children to adults. Referral questions may include concerns with anxiety and mood, behavioral disruptions, trauma, autism, ADHD, learning disorders, and intellectual disability. Postdocs will work with family court in high-conflict divorce cases to provide evaluations including but not limited to psychological evaluations, brief focus assessments, child interviews, and custody evaluations. Disability and compensation exams will also be an area of focus. Postdocs will be involved with conducting psychological assessments, therapy, and can be involved with the training program. Opportunities for supervising interns and practicum students are available. Notably, mentoring in private practice is part of the postdoc experience. Odyssey Wellness has multiple clinicians on-site with an array of experience and backgrounds. We maintain a collaborative setting developed to support others and promote growth. In addition, there are openings for professional development and position advancement post-licensure.

Information about the Position: The position would be offered as a 1-year contract, although may be extended to 18 months – 2 years with full-time or part-time. There are 10 holidays included, 2 additional days (the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve), mental health days, and 2 weeks of vacation time. A minimum of 1 hour of supervision with a Licensed Psychologist, group didactics, and monthly training is included. In addition, postdocs are provided with a budget of $500 to use toward training that are mutually agreed upon. Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm; however, flexible scheduling is available upon request as well as opportunities to work from home. Postdocs average 40-45 hours per week and are provided with their own office on-site. Experience with testing, supervision, and trauma work will be given extra consideration. Prior work with active-duty military or the VA is highly desired. Excellent writing skills are essential for success. Spanish speaking is desirable although not required. The expected start date could be as soon as July 1st. Doctoral Degrees must be posted prior to the start date. Based on experience, the potential pay range is $50,000 to $60,000/year based on experience.
