About the Workshop:
In an era of increasing sociopolitical challenges to individual identities, mental health practitioners are uniquely positioned to demonstrate allyship in ways that support and empower clients. This 1-hour pre-recorded presentation provides a practical framework for integrating social justice principles into clinical practice while navigating the complexities of implicit bias and undue influence. Participants explore ethical considerations surrounding the expression of personal beliefs and biases, learning how to strike a balance between authenticity and professional neutrality. By the end of the session, attendees will gain actionable strategies for fostering inclusive, ethical, and client-centered care that aligns with principles of equity and justice.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to: 1.) Understand the Role of Allyship in Clinical Practice: Participants will be able to define allyship and explain its significance in supporting clients facing sociopolitical challenges, with a focus on promoting equity and social justice within therapeutic relationships.
2.) Analyze the Impact of Implicit Bias and Undue Influence: Participants will learn to identify implicit biases and undue influence in their clinical practice, understanding their ethical implications and how they affect client care and decision-making.
3.) Implement Inclusive and Culturally Humble Practices: Participants will develop strategies for fostering diversity and inclusion in clinical practice, including recognizing and addressing identity-based threats and advocating for clients from marginalized backgrounds in a culturally responsive and ethical manner.

This presentation is intended for psychologists, other licensed mental health providers, and graduate students of psychology.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Marquez Wilson, Psy.D. (they/them), serves as the Treasurer for the Northern Region and the Executive Board of the Nevada Psychological Association (NPA). They are a dedicated expert in multicultural psychology, with a focus on LGBTQIA+ populations, people of color, and individuals with immigration experiences.
Dr. Wilson is a proud faculty member at the University of Nevada, Reno (Go Pack!), where they support college students and serve as the Assistant Clinical Director for Counseling Services. Additionally, they are the owner of WilPsych Prof LLC, providing psychological support to clients and offering consultation in inclusion, diversity, and accessibility.
Their work reflects a commitment to fostering understanding, equity, and empowerment in every aspect of their professional life.

If you want to receive homestudy CE credit for this pre-recorded presentation, you will need to complete and pass an online Post-Test Questions form. According to APA’s Standards and Criteria for Approval of Sponsors, attendee must score at least 70% accuracy to qualify for CE credit, ensuring that attendee did actually attend and complete the program. Partial credit will not be issued to those that do not score at least 70% on posttest. Attendees are allowed three attempts to complete and pass the online posttest to receive CE credit.
Completion of the evaluation form is appreciated, forms are tabulated and reported to our CE Committee for discussion, analysis of participants’ satisfaction with content, instructor performance, etc.
CE certificate will be issued via email within 72 hours of receipt of post test and evaluation form, provided a passing score is obtained.
